The Penang Port Commission has launched the Professional Advancement in Trucking and Haulage (PATH) programme, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s logistics workforce.

Penang Port highlighted that the programme is expected to benefit more than 1,000 commercial truck drivers nationwide, with a focus on structured training, licensing and workplace ethics.

“Supported by an RM2.5 million allocation from the federal government, PATH is designed to help Malaysia meet its goal of raising the proportion of skilled workers by 35% by 2030,” the commission said.

It added that the initiative would act as a catalyst for transformation in the logistics sector, boosting both capacity and professionalism while reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a regional trade hub.
