Free Penang Ferry Service For Three Upcoming Holidays
24 JULY 2025, BY Business Today
The Penang Port Commission (SPPP) will offer free ferry services for Malaysians on three significant national dates this year: Aug 31 for National Day, Sept 15 for the additional public holiday, and Sept 16 for Malaysia Day celebrations.
The initiative follows the government’s announcement on July 23 of several strategic measures aimed at easing the cost of living and strengthening unity.
In addition to the free ferry service, the Prime Minister announced a one-off RM100 cash assistance via MyKad for essential goods purchases, an extra public holiday on Sept 15, doubled allocations for Jualan Rahmah Madani to RM600 million, a freeze on toll hikes, a 14% reduction in electricity bills, and phased implementation of targeted RON95 fuel subsidies.
SPPP chairman Datuk Yeoh Soon Hin said the move underscores the commission’s commitment to supporting government efforts and encouraging the public to use public transport during national celebrations.
