SWETTENHAM PIER CRUISE TERMINAL A WORLD CRUISE DESTINATION FOR QUEEN MARY 2

Queen Mary 2, the largest of the three ‘Queens’ operated by Cunard Line, a UK based cruise operator recently docked at Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT).
Cunard Line has chosen Penang as one of its destinations in Asia as part of its ‘2015 Round the World Cruise’ trip offered by the company to its customers. The other ‘Queens’ in Cunard’s fleet of cruise vessels are ‘Queen Victoria’ and ‘Queen Elizabeth’.
Queen Mary 2 has a capacity to carry more than 2,600 passengers, is being operated by approximately 1,200 crew members, is 17 stories high and boasts facilities such as 15 restaurants / bars, 5 swimming pools, 1 casino, 1 ballroom, 1 theatre and a planetarium.
According to Md Derick Basir, Senior General Manager for Support Services, Penang Port is proud that the ‘Queen’ has decided to return to Penang.
‘This demonstrates their confidence in our ability to meet their requirements’ he said.
Queen Mary 2 first visited Penang 5 years ago in 2010.
