Job Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize and execute hydrographic surveys in accordance with IHO (International Hydrographic Organization) standards using advanced survey tools including multibeam echo sounds, single beam echo sounders, GNSS/GPS positioning, monitoring and sound velocity profilers in accordance to ISO Requirement for periodical maintenance dredging.
- To comply with the policies, directions and Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) on marine operation activity and marine safety measure for Penang Port.
- Supervise and coordinate daily deployment of hydrographic survey vessels, including crew assignment, equipment setup, and pre-survey calibration activities.
- Generate and review high-resolution bathymetric charts, 3D seabed terrain models, contour maps, and nautical chart overlays.
- Interpret and validate survey results to support critical decisions in dredging activities, marine construction, berthing safety and channel clearance assessments.
- Prepare and submit technical reports, survey summaries, chart updates and dredging progress maps for internal stakeholders and regular authorities (e.g., Port Authorities, port planning division).
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including survey records, equipment calibration logs, project timelines and data archive systems.
- Monitor the condition and performance of hydrographic equipment and ensure timely maintenance or calibration.
- Implement and enforce occupational health and safety standards during all hydrographic
operations.
- Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and safe navigation protocols in hydrographic practices.
- Experienced as a draughtsman in hydrographic survey.
Job Requirement/ Competency:
Qualification, Skills & Experience
- Possess a Diploma in Science Geomatic; or valid Certificate of the following grades or equivalent:
Certificate Hydrography Category B from International Hydrography Organization (IHO).
Other hydrographic training Centre recognize by IHO.
- Minimum 3 years working experience in similar field.
- Knowledge in hydrographic survey, OSHE regulations and dredging operations is advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and report writing skills.
- Able to operate AutoCAD software.
- Familiar with and hands-on experience using survey equipment and software.
- Proficient in data acquisition, survey planning, and comprehensive analysis of final survey results.
