ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide legal advice and risk assessment on projects, concessions, and operational matters of the Company and its subsidiaries.
• Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, templates, and legal notices across projects, operations, procurement, commercial, property, and finance matters.
• Attend and participate in meetings, discussions, and negotiations with internal stakeholders and external parties.
• Coordinate and conduct legal due diligence exercises for projects and concession matters.
• Advise on operational legal matters, including disputes and issues relating to container, cargo, marine, and cruise operations.
• Provide legal support for procurement activities, including contract review, risk assessment, negotiations, and maintenance of standard templates.
• Handle property and land matters, including letters of offer, leases, sub-leases, tenancy agreements, and related legal notices.
• Advise on commercial arrangements with port users, including terminal service agreements and related documentation.
• Advise on employment and industrial relations matters, including collective agreements and domestic inquiries when required.
• Provide legal advice on finance-related matters, including financing documents, guarantees, indemnities, tax, and duty issues, and liaise with financiers, advisers, and internal finance teams.
• Ensure compliance with competition law, including review, compilation, and submission of competition law checklists.
• Support general legal functions, including legal training, risk management, legal searches (CTOS and others), raid response readiness, legal updates, and budget management.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
• Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) (Hons.) or its equivalent.
• Qualified as Advocates and Solicitors of High Court of Malaya.
• At least five (5) years experience as a law practitioner and/or in-house counsel.
• Experience in litigation with solid corporate/legal advisory exposure.
• Strong written and spoken English and Malay.
• Good interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to plan and manage legal matters independently.
• Detail-oriented with strong drafting and review skills.
• Able to supervise, delegate, and train junior team members.
