Exploring Cruise And Tourism Operations At Penang Port

On Thursday, 4 June 2026, Penang Port Sdn Bhd (PPSB) hosted 60 Tourism Transportation students and lecturers from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) for a practical insight into maritime tourism.

The visit gave students a closer look at how ports support the tourism transport system, particularly in passenger terminal operations, ferry services, cruise activities, tourist flow, visitor facilities, and safety practices that underpin maritime tourism development. The highlight of the day was a tour of the Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT). Students observed live operations in real time while the international cruise ship Star Voyager was docked at the pier, showing them how theory translates into real-world logistics.

PPSB regularly hosts educational visits to help bridge the gap between academic studies and industry practice. Thank you to UUM for visiting our facilities and engaging with our team.
