The
PELKON II system is a highly customized container
terminal management system developed uniquely
to meet the operational requirements of both
the North Butterworth Container Terminal (NBCT)
and the Butterworth Wharves Container Terminal
(BWCT). |
| |
|
| |
History
:- |
| |
|
| |
The
development of the system started in 1994 and
commissioned on January 1, 1996. At the time,
it was one of the most advanced container terminal
management systems in the world. The system
was developed in a joint collaboration with
CMC Ltd. of India (now part of Tata Consulting
Services). CMC Ltd. provided the technical know-how
while PPSB provided the domain expertise. |

|
| |
Objectives
:- |
| |
|
| |
-
Create an efficient working environment.
- Optimize human resource and equipment utilization.
- Expedite operations execution.
- Reduce document processing and invoicing times. |
| |
|
| |
Benefits
:- |
| |
|
| |
Comprehensive
application covering the wide and complex spectrum
of container terminal operations.
- Highly available and fully redundant from
a hardware perspective.
- Utilizes state of the art RF technology for
operations execution. |
| |
-
Efficient algorithms for resource optimization
and user productivity.
- Streamlined work processes and procedures.
- Capable of operations in total darkness with
the use of innovative “Near-GPS”
solutions.
- Optimized “Hands-Off” work approach
at Controller side |
| |
-
Provides flexibility for customization and phased
implementation.
- Loosely coupled yet highly integratable.
- Easily interfaced with other systems.
- Ease of application maintenance due to modular
design. |
